St Aloysius Church
St Aloysius Catholic church was opened on 6th February 1910. It was designed by Belgian-born architect Charles Menart and dedicated to Aloysius Gonzaga. In 2004 this church was chosen as most beautiful Catholic Church in Glasgow. Before that, in 1868, another St Aloysius Church existed nearby for 40 years before the new one was built. Why did I choose St Aloysius Church? First of all, I’ll describe all my feelings about it. It’s where people think about God, pray for some reasons, apologizing for their mistakes and so on. A church is where people come to be near to God and this is most important. It’s been 141 years since the very first St Aloysius Church was established. Maybe in the future some other buildings in the Garnethill area and Glasgow will change and will become other buildings, but the Church cannot change because in this place people come to be near to God. And I think we have to care for all our churches in the city and in the country. I love Scotland and the Scottish people. Thank you very much for your attention. By Javid |
